POLICE CONSTABLE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
To be considered as a candidate for the position of Police Constable with the Stratford Police Service it is necessary for the candidates to meet the requirements as outlined in the Police Services Act. The Act can be viewed online at:

Applicants must submit:

Resume with cover letter that includes:
- detailed employment history
- detailed education history (high school and post secondary)
- detailed record of volunteer activities
- copies of: successfully completed Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Certificate of Results Constable Selection System - Pre-Interview Assessment Phase http://www.applicanttesting.com
- copy of current First Aid Certificate
- copy of current CPR Certificate
- copy of valid Ontario drivers licence
- copy of Birth Certificate
- four letters of reference

INFORMATION REGARDING POLICE CONSTABLE SELECTION PROCESS
Initial Interview
Upon invitation, candidates will have an interview before a panel of Senior Officers. Personal information will be gathered and the candidate's suitability examined. The interview process will cover a range of questions from background information, to questions about past experiences, matters of motivation, educational attainment, and special skills such as language and computer knowledge.
Psychological Assessment
An interview with an appointed psychologist will be arranged. This interview determines the candidate's psychological aptitude for a policing career.
Background Investigation
Each candidate will be subject to a thorough background investigation. The collection of information will be gathered from personal, character, and business/employment references provided by the candidate, as well as information from the Personal History Form.
Selection Decision
Upon completion of the background investigation, the Chief of Police will review the candidates’ files for approval. A conditional offer of employment, subject to a medical examination, will be made at this time.
Police Services Board Approval
The successful candidates’ names are then presented to the Stratford Police Services Board for final approval.
This process can span several months.
